Hot Chocolate Club is usually a time for young people who are transitioning to high school to get together for fun activities and an opportunity to reflect on busy lives over a hot chocolate. We had been used to meeting in the church hall on the first Friday of every month, but recently we have been doing things a little differently.
Since March we have met on Zoom, we’ve still enjoyed some fun activities, from bingo and quizzes, to talent shows and model making. Hot chocolate has been delivered to our young people, often with other sweet treats which we have incorporated into our activities, using smarties to encourage us to think about different feelings and skittles to make a rainbow.
We recognise that living through a pandemic is challenging for young people, just as much as for adults. We aim to provide a space to chat and reflect on the challenges in a supportive environment, as well as a break away from it all and the opportunity to socialise with friends, when that isn’t always easy.
