The recent church collection for the Turkey/Syria Earthquake Appeal raised £550 together with a kind donation from Ardoch Guild of £500 making a total of £1050. This has been sent off to the Disasters Emergency Committee who provide disaster relief to Turkey and Syria. Grateful thanks to all.
The Hot Chocolate Club hopes you enjoy this Nativity signed in Makaton and featuring themselves, some younger children who attend Forest Mission and older friends who were delighted to join in. Daniel Thomas filmed many of the clips along with Lyndsey and pasted them together very skillfully into this lovely digital Nativity, a part of which has been shown in Church each Sunday in Advent, and greatly appreciated by everyone.

Wanted: Reference books and histories of Braco, Greenloaning and surrounding areas
From time to time the Church website receives enquiries from people far and wide regarding perhaps the history of a farming family, an old family dwelling or wondering about a gravestone usually in either of the Kirk cemeteries. Our “go to” reference books are Sketches of Ardoch, written by Alexander N.. Anderson MA., FSA. (Scot.) 1933, formerly Head Master, Braco Public School: Ardoch 2000, written by William Hutchison and published by the Ardoch 2000 Millennium Committee: Dan McIldowie’s book which he personally had printed, The Parish of Ardoch and The Village of Braco, the proceeds of which went to Ardoch Parish Church to help mark its Bicentenary in March 1981: Walter Hanlan’s World War One & Two research papers: Old Tales of Braco & Ardoch Parish before 1915 written by Mr M van Ballegooijen for the bicentenary of Braco Village 1815 – 2015 and published in April 2015 by Ardoch Development Trust. All these books as far as I know are out of print.
If anyone has a spare copy of any of these books, they would be a useful addition to the ones held personally by the webmaster and the Session Clerk and could be held in the Church as reference books. At the moment there is a lady from down south I am corresponding with, who is a direct descendent of the Kinross family mentioned in Old Tales of Braco & Ardoch Parish before 1915 and she would very much appreciate a copy.
I would be delighed to hear from anyone who can help me in anyway with this request. Please contact me at info@ardochparishchurch.org or csouterbraco@aol.com
